We supply a wide range of consumable products, from Baking Goods and Confectionery to Milkshakes and coffee syrups. Shelf-stable consumable products sold online in NZ must have a Best Before date as well as NZ compliant labelling.
-
Most products will be within 3-12 months of their Best Before date.
-
All products are shipped with a minimum of 1 month on the Best Before date unless specified.
Most of our products are given between a 12 and 24 month Best Before date by the manufacturer, some are given only 6 months, and some over 24 months. Manufacturers and distributors may hold product for several months before selling. Therefore the dates that we receive can vary considerably.
Best Before vs Use By
Best Before dates are different from a Use-By date.
Best Before is used for products that have a relatively long shelf life. The date is primarily for ensuring the product is in good condition. These products can be sold after the Best Before date, but the customer should be aware of the date before purchasing.
Products that are stored properly will still be safe to consume and often still in good condition after the Best Before date. Confectionery that is stored correctly will often be in good condition long after the Best Before date.
Use By dates are used to control products that may become unsafe to consume over time. This is usually for short life products that are subject to spoiling such as meat and seafood. It is illegal to sell product that has passed its Use By date in New Zealand.
